Administrators Appointed to Birmingham E-Learning Provider Oxbridge Home Learning

Forvis Mazars oversees sale of assets and learning portal access after cashflow collapse

Rebecca Dacre and Guy Hollander of Forvis Mazars were appointed joint administrators of Oxbridge Ltd, the Birmingham-based distance learning provider trading as Oxbridge Home Learning, on 1 October 2025 following severe cashflow pressures and the cessation of trading in early September.

Founded in 2016 by education entrepreneur Matt Jones, Oxbridge offered GCSE, A-Level, and vocational courses online, combining AI-driven learning tools with tutor support. The company had built a reputation in the UK e-learning market but struggled to withstand a sharp downturn in enrolments and rising costs. Eleven staff were made redundant prior to the appointment.

Forvis Mazars said it conducted an extensive marketing process during August and September in pursuit of a pre-packaged sale, but with the business no longer trading, a going-concern deal proved unviable. The administrators completed two separate asset sales immediately upon appointment—one involving the acquisition of the Oxbridge website, trading name, and domain portfolio by a buyer that includes founder Matt Jones.

Under the terms of the deal, the company’s learning portal will remain accessible to students until July 2026, though no tutoring, marking, or examination services will continue. Administrators have confirmed that, due to the company’s significant liabilities, no repayment to unsecured creditors is expected.
