Arjowiggins Group – administration
Ten UK subsidiaries Arjowiggins Group, an independent paper manufacturer with origins dating back to 1738, entered administration on 22 September. The group owns and operates two paper mills in the UK, in Stoneywood, Aberdeen, and Chartham, Kent. It cited the negative impact of Covid-19 on trading and cashflow, the significant increases in energy costs and the price of raw materials, including pulp, as the primary drivers for the administration. Blair Nimmo and Alistair McAlinden of Interpath were appointed joint administrators, and have made 368 of the group’s 463 UK-based employees redundant, with 95 members of staff retained to assist the administrators with the operation of limited activity across the two sites whilst they explore a potential sale. There are a number of registered charges against the companies, including several in favour of Scottish Enterprise, Huk 106 Limited and Shawbrook Bank Limited.
