Balgownie Limited and Balgownie Rentals - Administration

Balgownie Limited and Balgownie Rentals, an Aberdeenshire agricultural machinery business that has been trading for almost 120 years, entered administration on 15 March, blaming "cashflow difficulties" for the closure.

Richard Bathgate and Graeme Bain of Johnston Carmichael were appointed as joint administrators, and are urgently assessing stock at the firm's Inverurie and Turriff depots to decide whether the business may be able to continue limited trading.

24 employees have lost their jobs, while 17 have been retained to help sell the company's assets.

The Royal Bank of Scotland has several registered charges against Balgownie Limited.
