Battery manufacturer GivEnergy enters administration
Christopher Brooksbank of CB Business Recovery appointed as administrator

GivEnergy Ltd, a UK-based supplier of residential energy storage systems, entered administration on 9 April 2026, with Christopher Brooksbank of CB Business Recovery appointed as administrator, following a rapid deterioration in trading conditions and mounting concerns across its distribution network.
The company operated as a prominent provider of inverters, battery storage systems and electric vehicle chargers, supplying products widely used in the UK residential solar and storage market.
The administration follows an earlier notice of intention to appoint an administrator, which triggered immediate responses from key distribution partners. Midsummer Energy, one of the company’s largest wholesalers, moved to de-list GivEnergy products and warned customers of potential disruptions to warranty coverage, technical support, firmware updates and spare parts availability, reflecting broader concerns about continuity of service.
GivEnergy’s recently introduced recurring software fees, underscoring the financial pressures facing the business. The company had indicated that slowing hardware sales and a growing user base had strained the sustainability of its platform, prompting a shift toward subscription-based revenue tied to remote access and system functionality.
The collapse highlights structural challenges in the UK residential energy storage sector, where rapid growth in installed systems has not always translated into stable, recurring revenue streams for manufacturers. For installers and end users, the administration introduces immediate operational and legal uncertainty. Warranty claims are likely to rank as unsecured liabilities unless assumed by a purchaser, while the continuity of software services, including cloud connectivity and application access, remains unclear.
