Blencowe Scaffolding enters administration after 62 years
More than 100 jobs at risk as family-run contractor collapses after six decades

Blencowe Scaffolding Limited, a family-run scaffolding contractor that has operated in southern England for more than six decades, entered administration on 12 August 2026, putting more than 100 jobs at risk. Julie Anne Palmer and Andrew Hook of BTG Begbies Traynor were appointed joint administrators.
Founded in 1964, Blencowe operates from depots in Salisbury, Basingstoke and Eastleigh and serves customers across much of southern England. The company provides commercial, domestic and heritage scaffolding services, including work for major contractors and on specialist projects. Its website says the business expanded into specialist scaffolding in 2014 and has undertaken work for customers across the UK and overseas.
The administration follows signs of weakening liquidity in Blencowe’s latest publicly filed accounts. For the year ended June 30, 2025, the company reported cash of just £1,263, down from £236,759 a year earlier, while net assets fell to approximately £2.2 million from £2.6 million. Current liabilities increased to about £647,000 from £495,000, while current assets declined to approximately £604,000 from £849,000.
Blencowe has one outstanding registered charge, granted in 2020 in favour of IGF Business Credit Limited. A longstanding debenture in favour of National Westminster Bank plc, which included fixed and floating security over the company’s undertaking and assets, was satisfied on 7 July, just over a month before the administration.
The company had also undergone changes at board level in the period leading up to the filing. David Paul Blencowe ceased to be a director in April 2025, while Hillary Florence Blencowe stepped down in October 2025. Patrick Edmund Rowlatt Blencowe is currently listed as a director.
