Buckingham Group Contracting Limited - Administration
Buckingham Group Contracting Limited, the contractor building Liverpool FC’s Anfield Road stand, entered administration on 4 September 2023, having been impacted by recent significant cashflow pressures and subsequent losses. The company had previously ceased trading and issued a notice of intention to appoint administrators on August 17. Joint Administrators Rob Parker, Jon Roden and Kevin Coates of Grant Thornton have secured the sale of the company’s rail assets, which includes its work for Network Rail and HS2, to Kier Group for £9.6m, saving approximately 180 jobs. The remainder of the company’s divisions (building, civil engineering, demolition, major projects and sport & leisure) were not able to be sold, and almost 450 employees have been made redundant. Each of Igf Business Credit Limited and HSBC Bank PLC has a registered charge against the company.
