The Burdens Group - Administration
The Burdens Group, a Lincolnshire agricultural machinery dealer, had its Sutterton and North Kyme branches purchased out of administration by Ernest Doe & Sons via a pre-pack deal, while Russell’s (Kirbymoorside) in Malton scooped up the Louth and Brigg branches.
The Burdens Group has been trading successfully for over 40 years, providing tractors, farm machinery, spare parts and repairs to its customers.
Despite implementing cost-cutting initiatives, including closing a site in Wragby, the company entered administration on 19 August after suffering from supply chain issues, rising interest rates, poor weather and crop yields in 2023 and 2024, and an economic downturn for growers resulting from the war in Ukraine.
Immediately on their appointment as joint administrators, Gareth Rusling and Robert Dymond of Begbies Traynor completed the sale to Ernest Doe & Sons, saving 68 jobs. The sale to Russell’s (Kirbymoorside) completed shortly after that, while other assets are being auctioned off.
National Westminster Bank PLC and Cnh Financial Services S.A.S have registered charges against the company.
