Lender moves against Scottish dealership group

Cars4You Ltd, an Edinburgh-based used-car dealership group operating across central Scotland, entered administration on 2 October 2026, with all 26 employees made redundant and the administrators seeking to recover value from the company's remaining vehicle stock and other assets. George Lafferty of BTG Begbies Traynor was appointed administrator following action by the company's lender, BCA.
Established in 2016, the family-owned business operated dealerships in Edinburgh, Straiton, Dunfermline and Falkirk, alongside specialist operations trading as E-Cars4You and Performance-Cars4You in western Edinburgh. The company had previously advertised an inventory of approximately 1,500 used cars and light commercial vehicles.
The administration follows a period of financial pressure despite the company reporting positive net assets in its latest accounts. According to filings at Companies House, current assets increased from approximately £5.7 million to £6.4 million in the year ended 31 August 2025, while amounts owed to creditors within one year rose from £3.5 million to £4 million. Net assets increased modestly to approximately £1.6 million from £1.5 million a year earlier.
The company's reported balance sheet position contrasts with the cash flow difficulties that preceded its collapse. The administrators have not yet established the full circumstances of the failure, including the extent of the company's secured indebtedness and the recoverable value of its vehicle inventory.
BTG has secured the dealership premises and is pursuing asset realisations for the benefit of creditors. The entire workforce had been made redundant, with affected employees receiving assistance through Scotland's Partnership Action for Continuing Employment programme and the Redundancy Payments Service.
