Claire’s UK to close 145 stores amid administration

Retail analysts are pointing to Claire’s weakening connection with its core demographic—tweens and teens who have shifted toward online fast accessory brands or fashion platforms—as contributing to the group’s financial issues, a risk Modella Capital has taken on after striking a deal with administrators Interpath to acquire 156 of Claire’s UK and Ireland stores, preserving about 1,000 jobs in those sites, while a further 145 will close.
