Dobbies Garden Centres - Restructuring Plan

Dobbies Garden Centres, which operates a garden centre chain, has launched a restructuring plan to address stores with historically uneconomical rent costs and ensure a return to sustainable profitability.

The company, which employs approximately 3,600 people, is seeking creditor approval of a restructuring plan that will see 17 out of 77 stores closed, affecting 465 jobs.

The company is also seeking rent reductions at a further nine stores. It is understood to be working with FTI Consulting.

Barclays Bank and Ares Management have registered charges against the company.
