Dovetail Enterprises (1993) - Administration

Dovetail Enterprises (1993), a 150-year-old Dundee-based furniture and mattress manufacturer which provided employment to disadvantaged and disabled people, entered administration on 28 March.

The company has not commented on the reasons for its financial difficulties, but rising costs, an older factory and an inability to secure financing are rumoured to have contributed to its collapse. 47 jobs have reportedly been lost, with a small number of employees retained to assist Alistair Mcalinden and Geoffrey Jacobs of Interpath, the joint administrators.

Scottish Enterprise, Dundee City Council and The Secretary of State for Education and Employment have registered charges against the company.
