Empire Cinemas - administration

Empire Cinemas, which operates 12 locations under the Empire brand and two Tivoli-branded cinemas, has entered administration. Administrators from BDO said the impact of the Covid pandemic and the cost of living crisis had significantly affected the business. Six cinemas - Bishop's Stortford, Catterick Garrison, Sunderland, Swindon, Walthamstow and Wigan – have already closed and approximately 150 of the companies’ 437 staff across England and Scotland have reportedly been made redundant.
