Fears for jobs as major Welsh employer considers restructuring plan

Coppice Alupack, a South Wales packaging manufacturer employing approximately 300 people across two sites, has launched a staff consultation over a proposed restructuring that would end manufacturing at its Clydach Vale facility near Tonypandy and transfer production to its Blackmill site, with Clydach Vale converted into a distribution centre. The proposals have raised concerns about potential job losses, although chief executive Derek Nixon stressed that no final decisions have been made and that the company is consulting with affected employees before determining the site's future.
