Glens of Antrim Potatoes enters administration, 95 jobs affected
Administrators seek buyers for the business and its assets after refinancing and investment efforts fail

Glens of Antrim Potatoes Ltd, a Northern Ireland potato producer and crisp manufacturer with more than five decades of trading history, entered administration on 21 September 2026 after rising operating costs and mounting liquidity pressures left the business unable to continue trading. Stuart Irwin, Ian Leonard and Robin Coughlin of Interpath were appointed joint administrators, with operations ceasing immediately and nearly all of the company's 95 employees made redundant.
Established in 1972, Glens of Antrim operated from facilities in Cushendall and Ballymena, supplying potatoes to customers across the UK and Ireland. The company expanded into branded snack manufacturing in 2015 with the launch of Glens of Antrim Crisps, securing distribution through major supermarket chains including Tesco and Sainsbury's.
The administration followed a period of significant financial pressure driven by increasing costs across the agri-food supply chain. The company's directors explored refinancing and potential new investment in an effort to address its cash flow difficulties, but were unable to secure a viable solution before the appointment of administrators.
The closure has resulted in widespread redundancies, with only a small number of employees retained to assist with the administration. The administrators are providing support to affected staff while assessing opportunities to recover value from the company's remaining operations and assets.
Interpath is now seeking expressions of interest from potential purchasers of the business and its assets.
