HHGL and Hampden Group trading as Homebase - Administration

HHGL and Hampden Group trading as Homebase, a British home improvement retail giant, had 70 stores, its brand and intellectual property purchased out of administration by The Range owner CDS via a pre-pack deal, saving 1,600 jobs.

The company’s CEO said Homebase had suffered due to deceased consumer spending since the COVID pandemic, persistent high inflation, global supply chain issues and unseasonable weather.

Gavin Park and Adele MacLeod of Teneo were appointed joint administrators on 13 November.

The sale to CDS did not include 2,000 employees, although no immediate redundancies have been made.

Ark Finco UK, Homebase (UK & I) Holdings and Wells Fargo Capital Finance (UK) have registered charges against the company.
