The House of St Barnabas - Liquidation
The House of St Barnabas, a Grade 1 Listed building on Soho Square, entered liquidation on 31 January.
The House has been run as a charity for the homeless since 1862. It was established in its current form as a not-for-profit members club which opened in 2013. The commercial activities of the club operated through The House of St Barnabas Events Ltd, which also entered liquidation.
The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, together with a partial collapse of the ceiling which caused the club to close and reduced capacity during 2023, eroded the financial reserves and resulted in the business model becoming unsustainable.
Adam Stephens and Christopher Allen of Evelyn Partners were appointed as joint liquidators, and are accepting expressions of interest from organisations interested in taking over the running of the building, subject to various charity and building-consent related limitations.
