Merchant Homes Partnerships Ltd - Provisional Liquidation
Merchant Homes Partnerships Ltd, a construction company which provided building services across Scotland, specialising in private and social residential housing, was placed into provisional liquidation on 20 December.
The company was impacted by increasing costs, inflationary pressures, unforeseen delays to new contracts and a general downturn in buyer confidence across the sector resulting from the rise in interest rates. This culminated in unsustainable cash flow pressures and, despite significant efforts by the directors to save the business, it became apparent that the business could no longer continue to trade.
Mark Harper and Steven Parker of Opus were appointed joint provisional liquidators and regrettably made all 22 employees redundant. Pamela Muir of Thorntons has assisted with the legal aspects of the case. Thorne Investments Ltd and the Dundee City Council have registered charges against the company.
