P&B Metal Components enters administration after customer order rephasing

P&B Metal Components Limited, a Sheffield-based manufacturer of precision metal components, has entered administration, with James Clark and James Lumb of Interpath appointed as joint administrators on 6 January 2026.

Founded more than 60 years ago, the company manufactures electromechanical precious metal contacts used in critical electrical assemblies across sectors including automotive, renewables, HVAC, aerospace, railways, and industrial controls, exporting products to more than 30 countries and operating from freehold premises in Sheffield, alongside a standalone manufacturing subsidiary in Malaysia serving customers across South East Asia.

The appointment followed a rephasing of orders from a major customer, which placed acute pressure on cash flow and prompted the directors to explore external investment and other rescue options, ultimately concluding that a solvent solution was not achievable.

Following their appointment, the joint administrators said they intend to continue trading the business while pursuing a sale aimed at preserving the business as a going concern, with six redundancies made on day one in response to reduced forecast turnover and the remaining 48 employees retained, alongside plans to market both the UK operations and the Malaysian subsidiary as part of the administration process.
