Pagazzi Lighting retail arm enters administration as online unit acquires brand assets
Begbies Traynor administrators oversee store closures and redundancies after prolonged pressure on high street trading

Pagazzi Lighting (Services) Limited, the retail operating arm of Scottish home lighting retailer Pagazzi Lighting, entered administration on 27 February 2026, after sustained cost pressures and weaker consumer spending forced the closure of a large portion of its store network.
George Lafferty and Stanley Smith of Begbies Traynor were appointed joint administrators to the Thornliebank-based company, which operated physical retail locations across Scotland and northern England specializing in decorative lighting, mirrors and home accessories.
The appointment follows a period of declining trading performance across the business’s bricks-and-mortar operations, as rising operating costs and softer discretionary spending weighed on margins throughout the UK retail sector. Administrators said those pressures ultimately left the company unable to continue trading its store portfolio on a viable basis.
Pagazzi Lighting was founded nearly 45 years ago and built a reputation as a specialist lighting retailer with a presence in major shopping centers and retail parks. The company expanded its network over the decades to include multiple high street stores and concessions serving customers across Scotland and parts of northern England.
Shortly after the administration began, 11 retail locations were closed following consultations with staff. The closures included several prominent sites in Scottish retail destinations and effectively ended the company’s nationwide store network.
The shutdown of the physical retail operations resulted in approximately 70 redundancies. Administrators said affected employees are being supported through the redundancy process with assistance from relevant employment support programs and government agencies.
While the administration marks the end of Pagazzi’s traditional retail footprint, parts of the broader business have been preserved through a related-party transaction. Certain assets and elements of the brand have been acquired by Pagazzi Lighting (Web) Limited, the group’s online-focused entity. The transaction allows the Pagazzi brand to continue operating through digital channels and a limited number of remaining outlets, albeit on a significantly smaller scale than the previous retail network.
