Plato Racing enters administration

Arafino Advisory appointed as Pantera markets race cars, engineering infrastructure and sponsorship relationships

Plato Racing Ltd, the British Touring Car Championship team founded by former champion Jason Plato, entered administration on 12 August 2026, with its race cars, intellectual property, commercial relationships and operating platform now being marketed for sale. James Varney and Simon Bonney of Arafino Advisory were appointed joint administrators.

While little information has been released regarding the reasons behind the appointment, marketing information indicates that Plato Racing had recorded approximately £545,073 of turnover against £1.38 million of overheads, resulting in an operating loss of approximately £835,097. The company had not yet reached the deadline for filing its first statutory accounts, limiting the public financial information available before the administration.

Companies House records also show that Cataclean Global Limited, the team's title sponsor, held an outstanding floating charge granted by Plato Racing in March 2026. Following discussions with the administrators, Cataclean reportedly agreed to provide interim funding to allow the racing operation to continue competing while its longer-term future is determined.

The administrators have instructed Pantera Valuation Services to market the operation. Assets being offered include the competitive race cars, intellectual property, engineering and operational infrastructure and commercial sponsorship relationships, giving a purchaser the opportunity to acquire an established platform within the BTCC.
