Pre-pack sale preserves core operations of UK metal recycling group

Enablelink Limited and its logistics affiliate MT Transport (UK) Limited entered administration after sustained pressure from weak global demand, volatile scrap prices, and rising operating costs weighed on the group’s financial position, prompting a rapid pre-pack transaction to protect viable parts of the business.
Raj Mittal and Ben Jones of FRP Advisory Trading Ltd were appointed as joint administrators on 22 December 2025, following a period in which strategic and refinancing options were explored against a backdrop of lower recyclable metal volumes and depressed pricing across both domestic and international markets.
Enablelink, which processes more than 300,000 tonnes of ferrous and non-ferrous material annually, had previously benefited from significant private equity investment by Endless to expand shredding and processing capabilities, but those investments were unable to offset the impact of deteriorating market conditions and increased cost pressures.
After conducting a marketing process, the administrators completed a pre-pack sale of Enablelink’s processing facilities in Great Bridge and Coseley in the West Midlands to Global Ardour Recycling, a national operator in the ferrous and non-ferrous recycling sector, securing 39 jobs and ensuring continued operations at the two sites.
The administrators said the transaction preserves value and operational continuity in the most sustainable parts of the business, while work continues to engage with creditors and other stakeholders in relation to the remaining assets and potential recoveries.
