Precision Colour Printing enters administration five months after ownership change
Alvarez & Marsal administrators are exploring a sale of the Telford printer, which employs about 160 people

Precision Colour Printing Limited, a Telford-based magazine, catalogue and brochure printer, entered administration on 27 August 2026, with Michael Denny and Michael Magnay of Alvarez & Marsal appointed joint administrators.
The administrators said the appointment provides a framework to safeguard the company’s business and assets while they rapidly assess available options, including whether a sale can be completed. Precision Colour Printing currently employs approximately 160 people, and no redundancies were made immediately following the appointment.
The administration comes just five months after Precision Colour Media Limited acquired control of the business. Companies House records show Precision Colour Media became the company’s person with significant control on 20 March, replacing Hypax Gamma Holdco Limited, which had itself taken control in May 2024.
Following the March transaction, Precision Colour Printing announced plans for renewed investment in its production capabilities, including the addition of an eight-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 press. The company operates from Halesfield in Telford and specialises in magazine, catalogue and brochure printing, as well as bindery, mailing and fulfilment services. Its website says it works with more than 400 magazine titles across the UK and Ireland.
The company’s latest accounts, for the year ended 28 December 2024, show turnover of £27.9 million, down from £31.5 million the previous year. It reported a £278,819 profit for the year after a £1.9 million loss in 2023, while average headcount fell to 186 from 202. The accounts showed £5.5 million of net assets and £1.8 million of cash at year-end.
More recent reports indicate the business subsequently encountered cash-flow pressure, with production disrupted by shortages of paper and other consumables and customers moving work to competing printers. The company also underwent a management change shortly before the administration: directors Nicholas Evans and Nicholas Denning left on 7 August, when Rebecca Leese was appointed as a director and company secretary.
Close Brothers Limited holds the company’s only outstanding registered charge at Companies House, under security created in June 2025 that includes fixed and floating charges over the business and its assets. An earlier security interest held by Leumi UK Group Limited was satisfied in February 2026.
The administrators are now assessing whether the printing operation can be sold as a going concern. In the meantime, work previously handled by Precision Colour Printing is being redirected across the UK printing market as customers seek alternative capacity.
