Queni Koi Sold Out of Administration, Preserving Leicestershire Brand

Queni Koi Ltd, one of the UK’s largest specialist koi carp retailers, has been sold out of administration to BIAS IT Limited, securing the future of the Wanlip-based business after a period of financial distress.
Rising overheads and a slowdown in sales earlier this year placed the company under significant cash flow pressure, prompting its director to seek professional advice. On 18 September 2025, Mike Dillon and Andrew Knowles of Leonard Curtis were appointed joint administrators and completed a same-day sale of the business and assets to BIAS IT, an unconnected purchaser.
Formed in 2010, Queni Koi built a reputation as a trusted supplier of high-quality koi carp imported directly from Japan, operating more than 60,000 gallons of water across 26 ponds at its Leicestershire site. The company became known for its strict quarantine and treatment processes and a loyal customer base within the niche aquatics retail market.
The sale ensures continuity of operations, with BIAS IT committing to restock and expand the business.
The acquisition marks a diversification for BIAS IT, which operates in IT support and computer installation. Leonard Curtis said the outcome represents a positive resolution for the business and its stakeholders, preserving a long-established regional brand in the specialist aquatics sector.
