Vacancy for a Regulation Officer
The Insolvency Practitioners Association (IPA) is a membership organisation and a professional body recognised by the Government for licensing members to act as Insolvency Practitioners. As the only such body specialising solely in insolvency, the IPA remains at the forefront of developing insolvency qualifications, widening access to insolvency knowledge and understanding, and leading debate on key issues. Our team of more than 35 staff supports IPA’s members, affiliates and students, ensuring that our brand and reputation are both maintained and strengthened.
Job description
We are seeking a JIE-qualified individual, or someone with equivalent experience, to join our Regulation Team and manage disciplinary matters relating to our licensed Insolvency Practitioners. The core of the role will be managing a portfolio of complaint files, with additional involvement in related regulatory activities as required.

Referring cases for formal investigation where necessary and preparing cases for consideration by decision-making committees, including drafting disciplinary allegations and preparing reports and evidence bundles.
Supporting colleagues, including Monitoring Inspectors, in ensuring that licensed Insolvency Practitioners are regulated in line with internal and external targets and procedures.
Undertaking ad hoc projects and contributing to wider areas of IPA regulatory activity as required.
Assisting with internal reporting and related tasks.
Qualities:
Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise your workload to meet KPIs. We are looking for someone who is self-sufficient, proactive, and able to manage their own portfolio while working collaboratively across the team.
Strong technical knowledge of personal and corporate insolvency, along with a clear understanding of the regulatory and statutory framework for the profession. Legal expertise is desirable but not required
High standards of accuracy and attention to detail, with strong written and oral communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a remote team and to explain complex or technical issues clearly and sensitively.
Proficiency across all areas of insolvency, with up to date technical knowledge at the JIE level. A JIE qualification is desirable but not essential.
Competence in Microsoft Office, including Excel. Experience with Microsoft Teams is helpful but not required.
A commitment to contributing positively to the work of the IPA and playing a key role in its Regulation Secretariat operations.
Diversity and Inclusion
The IPA is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion. We believe that the profession and our organisation do best when it reflects the society we serve. We value and promote diversity and are committed to equality of opportunity for all appointments made on merit. We positively encourage applications from people from all sections of the community, from all backgrounds and with a broad range of experience.

Salary: Competitive, based on experience.
Benefits: Private health scheme, death in service insurance, and a contributory pension scheme with 8% employer contributions when the employee contributes 5%.
Annual Leave: 27 days, with the option to purchase up to a further week.
