St Helens Chamber - Administration

St Helens Chamber, one of the largest chambers in the UK, entered administration on 14 March, citing a "perfect storm" of factors including reduced government funding, difficulties in generating a surplus and falling office values.

Jason Bell and Philip Stephenson of Grant Thornton were appointed joint administrators.

The majority of the 71 staff have been made redundant, while almost 300 students and apprentices are left to find new training providers.

National Westminster Bank has a registered charge against the chamber.
