T.G. Howell & Sons trading as Terry Howell Timber & Builders’ Merchants, a South Wales-based builders' merchants, entered administration on 5 February, citing volatility in the timber market and unsustainable losses in the wholesale business.

Immediately on the appointment of Huw Powell and Katrina Orum of Begbies Traynor as joint administrators, a sale of the two builders merchant stores to Robert Price (Builders’ Merchants) was completed, saving 53 jobs. The wholesale business will close, but no employees have been made redundant.
