Toolstream and parent Group Silverline enter administration after funding talks fail

DIY tools distributor Toolstream Limited and its parent Group Silverline Limited entered administration on 11 December, 2025, after efforts to secure additional funding proved unsuccessful, appointing Hywel Phillips and Gavin Park of Teneo Financial Advisory Limited as joint administrators.

Toolstream, based in Yeovil, imports and distributes hand tools, power tools, fixings and workwear to wholesalers and merchants across the UK and Europe, acting as sole distributor for more than 6,000 products associated with brands including Scruffs, Silverline and Triton. The business operates from a freehold property owned by Group Silverline, which wholly owns Toolstream.

The administrators cited sustained trading pressure following the global supply chain disruption that emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, which constrained stock availability and weighed on margins. Those conditions persisted into subsequent periods, undermining profitability and limiting the group’s ability to trade on a solvent basis despite engagement with stakeholders. Financial filings also show a sharp deterioration in performance ahead of the appointments.

The administrators have paused trading while assessing interest in the companies’ assets. A total of 111 redundancies were made shortly before Christmas, with a limited number of employees retained to assist with statutory duties and the administration process.
