UK furniture supplier Westbridge enters administration
Around 300 roles affected as buyer sought for distressed manufacturer

Westbridge Furniture Limited, a UK upholstery manufacturer supplying major high street retailers, has entered administration with Chris Pole and Will Wright of Interpath appointed as joint administrators on 23 March 2026, marking the latest casualty in a consumer-facing manufacturing sector strained by weak demand and persistent cost pressures.
The company, based in Holywell, Flintshire, forms part of The Belfield Group and designs and manufactures sofas and upholstered furniture for national chains and independent retailers. Its collapse follows a period of operational disruption after a prior restructuring transaction in early 2025, compounded by the loss of a key customer and softer trading conditions that eroded revenue visibility and placed acute pressure on liquidity.
Administrators said the business had made progress on its turnaround efforts but ultimately required additional capital that could not be secured, despite attempts by management to pursue refinancing and investment options. The appointment reflects broader headwinds across UK furniture manufacturing, where elevated input costs, higher borrowing rates, and subdued consumer spending have converged to compress margins and weaken order books.
The administrators expected to continue trading the business for a limited period to fulfil existing orders while pursuing a sale of the company or its assets. This approach is intended to preserve value and maintain continuity for customers, though the outcome will depend on the level of buyer interest. Approximately 300 employees are understood to be affected at the Holywell site, with the majority retained in the near term to support ongoing operations during the administration process. The administrators have indicated that redundancies may follow depending on the outcome of the sale process.
