UK vape wholesaler JM Wholesale enters administration, ceases trading

JM Wholesale Limited, a Leicester-based distributor of vaping and smoking products, has entered administration, with Christopher Lewis and Chris Newell of Quantuma Advisory appointed as joint administrators on 20 March 2026, following a rapid deterioration in trading conditions that left the business insolvent.

The company, which positioned itself as a large-scale supplier to UK retailers, operated as a wholesale distributor of widely recognised vaping brands including Elf Bar, Lost Mary, and SKE Crystal, among others. Its business model relied on high-volume distribution into a retail market that has faced mounting regulatory scrutiny and shifting consumer dynamics.

All 19 employees have been made redundant, and the company has ceased trading immediately upon the administrators’ appointment. The joint administrators are now focused on securing and realising the company’s remaining assets, with a view to maximising recoveries for creditors.

The collapse comes amid intensifying regulatory pressure on the UK vaping sector, including the government’s planned prohibition of single-use vapes and broader restrictions on smoking and vaping in public spaces. These measures have introduced significant uncertainty across the supply chain, particularly for distributors exposed to disposable product categories and reliant on rapid inventory turnover.
