Williams & Co (Southampton) Limited

Administrators have been appointed over a manufacturing company operating in the aerospace and sport automotive industry, following a police raid that uncovered illegal activity being conducted from some of the company's office space.

Williams & Co (Southampton) Limited has been operating since 1935, serving a predominantly blue chip customer base.

In late January 2023, Quantuma were approached by director David Fripp to seek advice with regard to the sale of the business and assets. Mr Fripp advised that the business had temporarily ceased trading following a police raid whereby it was discovered that illegal activity had been conducted from some office space, allegedly by an informal tenant.

Following an inspection of the property, it became apparent that the electrical wiring had been compromised as a result of the illegal activity, with an electrician confirming that the wiring had bypassed the meter. In addition, the re-wiring had led to the emergency power lever being disabled. There was also still a large quantity of equipment used for the illegal activity onsite.

Carl Jackson and Kelly Mitchell of Quantuma Advisory were appointed Joint Administrators on 2 February 2023. On the same day, the business was able to recommence trading.

Since their appointment, the Joint Administrators have conducted an extensive marketing process and received five offers. They are currently proceeding with one offer and will update creditors in their next report.
